News : Secure Software Engages DCPR for Public Relations Program
Educating target market on the weak link of flawed software and how to fix it
July 1, 2004 – McLean, Virginia – Buggy software has been around as long as there have been computers to run it, but with today’s applications responsible for running more business, military, and government operations, the security implications and costs attributed to breached software have become enormous. Insecurely developed software has opened the door for professional hackers to access unauthorized data, and conduct identity theft and other fraud on a scale of crisis proportions.
DCPR was engaged by Secure Software to educate its target audiences, which includes software developers and security professionals, on “application security” and the company's pioneering approach to tackling the industry-wide problem. The PR program relies heavily on communicating to the technology, security, business, and government media about the extent of the problem, its root causes, and Secure Software's technologies and “process” guidance for finding and fixing these security flaws.
The program will promote Secure Software’s founder and CTO John Viega, an industry-recognized expert, through speaking engagements at industry conferences and events; contributed articles in trade journals and magazines; and as an expert resource for media briefings and interviews. DCPR will also employ an analyst relations program as a channel for reaching key influencers and decision-makers in the security, software development, government, and financial services markets.
